Hi all, new boy here.

My company has recently bought some car chargers for our tp2s.

Most of them work OK but a couple of guys report that their tp2 doesn`t charge when plugged into the car.
I`ve got one here with my which I`m messing with at the moment and when it`s plugged into the car it thinks it`s connected to a PC and offers to synchronise with exchange.
If the phone is turned off the red charging light will come on (the setting to not charge the battery when connected to the PC isn`t ticked).

I`m afraid I`m out of ideas.

is it a car charger made for the tp2 or another phone? if it's made for the g1 or razr or of course the tp2 i've noticed they work but if it's made for another phone it might not work. right now what i use is the usb cord and i have a fm transmitter for my ipod that allows me to charge the ipod through the usb cord if i need it, so what i do is take the usb cord for my phone and just plug it into that and it works.

The car charger is supposed to work wth the TP2 it`s from eastmaze http://www.eastmaze.com/Retractable-Car-Charger-for-HTC-p1122-c119.html

As I say they do work with the other TP2s we have but these 2 just will not charge when switched on no matter which one of the adapters I use.

I`m thinking I might have to try a hard reset (I`ve tried the soft reset but no difference.)

Just thinking that the TP2s are straight out of the box, I`ve not done any updates or anything with them. Perhaps there might be something in an update but as I say the other TP2s we have do charge up and they were all bought at the same time.

Could it be the charger and not your phone?  Have you tried connecting the other TP2s to the charger?  Does it do the same?

I have done all the switching I can, different TP2s with the charger and different chargers with the TP2 in question.

The TP2 will charge if it`s turned off so the chargers are fine it`s the TP2 that`s acting strangely.

That's strange.  I still think it's the charger and not the phone.  So your phone doesn't charge when it connects to the car charger without having to turn it off, correct?  And you tried connecting other TP2s to that same charger and it charges the phone without having to turn it off?

I recently bought 3 of the bone fide HTC car chargers and they work fine with the TP2s that had problems, so it was obviously the charger/TP combination that didn`t work on some of the PDAs  Undecided

Good to hear. It's sad that usually (in my experience) the manufacturer's parts and cables are more expensive, but they work much better than third-party cords.
