When I slide open my phone to reply to a txt or an email using the keybaord, my phone is showing the touchscreen keyboard. I must minimize the touchscreen keyboard in order to have full functionality of the slide out keyboard. Is there a way to turn off the touchscreen keyboard automatically when I slide my phone open?
Thanks, Shaun

I agree. That really irritates me. My logic is that if I am going to slide out the keyboard, chances are very good that I don't want to use the one on the screen. I guess I am no engineer though.

I am trying to reply to this and it's happening to me, lol. I can see what you mean. For myself, I just have to press one key and the onscreen keyboard disappears. Also, if I have the keyboard already open, then the onscreen keyboard doesn't pop up. I don't think there is a way to make the onscreen keyboard not pop up unless you would want to completely shut off the onscreen keyboards. My suggestion would be to try pressing a button on your physical keyboard when the virtual keyboard pops up. Or should I look into turning off the virtual keyboard entirely?

Unfortunately, pressing a button on the keyboard doesn't work for me - the touchscreen keyboard stays open. The only way I have been able to close the touchscreen keyboard is to press the keyboard icon on the bottom of the screen. If you could look into how to disable the touchscreen keyboard I would appreciate it.

All right, good to know. That's what I also have. I just have a few more questions to be able to effectively help you. 1) Have you installed any programs that alter how your phone looks, or changes the settings? 2) Have you made any registry changes to your phone, and if so, what were they? 3) Are you running Windows Mobile 6.1 or 6.5? 4) Have you unlocked your phone? Flashed a new ROM onto it? Get back to me on those and I will see what I can do to help you.

Esazi, it seems since you both have Verizon and it happens to the both of you I think it is part of the programming. I would suggest going over to XDA forums and asking them if they could make a .cab file that might get rid of it during landscape mode. Or maybe they can tell you what to change in the registry to fix this problem.
I have tried simulating this on my USCC TP2 and when I click to reply to a txt message I have to open my touch screen keyboard via the button on screen. It seems to me that since my phone is this way and yours is opposite, it has to be a registry change, which means there's hope!!

I figured I would post some screenshots of my phone and what it looks like during the different views while texting. Ok here is what my text messages look like when I choose the all messages, then go into a text conversation that way. Now the first image you see has the onscreen keyboard out, when I open my phone for the landscape view it automatically goes away. I am not sure if yours does this, but it sounds as though it doesn't do it automatically like mine. This is what it looks like when I click on the latests text message screen.

But mine is USCC and does the same thing.

Have you guy's tried doing a Hard Reset? I am not sure why this would help, or has it done it from day one?
